Birth to Three Therapy
because education begins in early childhood
Developmental Therapists evaluate, assess and track a child’s learning across all
developmental domains to identify where each child’s skill-set is strong and areas that need improving. Choosing activities designed to coax a child to overcome their challenges and improve their ability to gain more from their interactions thereby elevating their self-confidence and ability to develop as expected with the potential to exceed beyond expectations.
Developmental Therapy is a discipline that specifically targets how a child is developing across all developmental domains for a specified period of time such as birth to eight years. Developmental therapists address all of a child’s developmental domains, for example, thinking, communication, social-emotional, fine motor, gross motor, and self-help skills. Together both parents and a develop-
mental therapist devise a plan to help each child meet their education goals based upon
the parents input and learning benchmarks for each child based on their age.
Infants and young children learn through play --- by interacting with people, toys, nature and objects. Children also learn by what they see while observing others engage in work,
play and leisure activities. Then by attempting some (or all) of what they see others do or
what an object, such as a toy, prompts them to do…their own abilities are revealed to both
themselves and those around them. Any attempt a child makes to engage in work-play and
communicate with others is based upon his or her existing physical, mental and emotional
health. A child’s physical, mental and emotional health is dependent upon the
quality of care they receive (at conception) from their family, health care pro-
fessionals, educators, anyone or anything they are exposed to. A child’s development could be compromised anytime that their health and emotional needs are not consistently met,
on a daily basis, with nutrition, health, safety, productivity and loving care.
